October SWSD Board Meeting Recap

The South Whittier School District held its monthly Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. The meeting featured three presentations: the 2024–2025 CAASPP Perfect Score Awards, the 2024–2025 Perfect Attendance Awards, and the Loma Vista Student & Academic Achievement Report.
Awards & Recognitions: 2024–2025 CAASPP Perfect Scores
Associate Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Rebecca Rodriguez, recognized students who earned perfect scores on the 2024–2025 CAASPP assessment in either English Language Arts (ELA) or Math. One student achieved the remarkable distinction of earning perfect scores in both subjects.

Awards & Recognitions: 2024–2025 Perfect Attendance
Dr. Rodriguez also recognized students who maintained perfect attendance throughout the 2024–2025 school year.
Following the recognitions, Superintendent Dr. Gonzales expressed gratitude to parents, noting that their dedication and consistency in ensuring daily attendance play a vital role in student success.
A total of 31 students across all South Whittier schools were honored for their perfect attendance.
Congratulations to all students and their families for this commendable accomplishment!
Presentation: Loma Vista Student & Academic Achievement Report
Loma Vista Principal, Ms. Carreon, presented an overview of the school’s academic progress and student achievements. She began by celebrating nine students who were reclassified as English Learners, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys.
Ms. Carreon then reviewed Loma Vista’s CAASPP results in English Language Arts and Math, highlighting areas of improvement as well as opportunities for continued growth. She detailed how staff have identified specific areas of need and outlined the school’s action plan to support ongoing academic success.
The presentation emphasized Loma Vista’s core commitments, including:
- Continuous monitoring of student progress
- Collaboration among teachers and staff
- Use of diverse instructional strategies to promote learning
- Consistent communication with families
Ms. Carreon concluded by sharing Loma Vista’s success in addressing chronic absenteeism. The school has proudly maintained the highest attendance in the district for the past three years as well as the highest staff attendance.
